Yard
The human-centric and timeless yard is divived into to themes and levels
The central principles of the yard design are human-centric and timeless, resulting in a robust, versatile, and lush environment. The yard is clearly divided into two themes and levels. The concept naturally aligns with the architectural design of the building, following the way the levels naturally fit into the landscape. The overall appearance is lush, with vegetation seemingly embracing the block.
The intimate upper-level environment sets the mood with terraces and garden-like plantings. The play area and communal seating areas enclosed by a pergola structure are also located on the upper level. The lower level serves as a more public arrival area, connecting directly to the north-side street areas through paved surfaces. The lower-level green planting areas, with their diverse tree species, visually connect with the forested slope on the south side of the block.
The landscape architecture firm behind the courtyard design, MASU Planning, was founded by internationally acclaimed landscape architects Malin Blomqvist and Sune Oslev. The chief designer of the courtyard, Malin Blomqvist, has been responsible for extensive garden designs, including the one at the H.C. Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark, which opened in 2020. She collaborated with the globally renowned architect Kengo Kuma on this project.
